Undergraduate volunteers working in your lab?

Undergraduate volunteers are not covered by benefits, such as worker's compensation.  This is especially important for volunteers working in research labs, who may be unintentionally exposed to biohazardous agents.

Environmental Health Services has established "Guidelines for the Use of Volunteers".  Please review the guidelines so that you are familiar with the requirements for allowing volunteers to work in your lab, and what to do in the event that an accident occurs involving a volunteer.

For more information regarding volunteers, you may also contact Risk Management at 231-7439 or Occupational Safety and Health at 231-5985.
